Tamara “Solem” Al-Issa is a Syrian/Filipina Toronto-based sculptural artist with a focus on conveying preservation of time. Solem’s work pulls from memories of the architecture and community within SWANA and Southeast Asia thorough exploring familiar shapes, colours and textures from these regions.
Solem recently had a group exhibition on March 31st entitled Duality, which displayed her unreleased gypsum sculptures— a debut exploration of earth in a different form.

On our last day in Toronto, we had the chance to spend some time with Tamara and her cat, Abou, in her studio. We photographed some moments in her working/living space using three new rugs from our fourth collection alongside her new gypsum sculptures and renowned ceramic works.
